Antoni Gaudí
“To do things properly, first you need love and then technique”.

Storytelling
Hotel Barcelona 1882 owes its name to the date on which the architect Antoni Gaudí began construction of the Sagrada Familia, Barcelona’s most emblematic building which was declared a World Heritage Site. We wanted to pay tribute to this architectural masterpiece and to the genius who created it, a Catalan Modernist pioneer for his time with a unique interpretation of nature which he turned into his personal architectural language.
Known around the world for being one of the most important geniuses in the history of architecture, the master Antoni Gaudí was a great observer of nature, attracted to its shapes, colours and geometry.
The design team at María Barcelona was inspired by the work of William Morris, founder of the Arts and Crafts movement, to extract a graphic motif which accompanies this important date. They say and believe that William Morris was one of Gaudí’s main sources of inspiration.

This philosophy of craftsmanship, personalisation and respect towards the environment is also the philosophy of the whole team at Hotel Barcelona 1882; a clear example of which is the phrase you can find at the start of the team’s welcome book which is part of this project and reflects the service objectives we have set ourselves.
